What is Fresh Eco Steam, True Protect, Ceramic Coating System?

The Fresh Eco Steam True Protect, Ceramic Coating System is a process we developed to ensure that all coating applications are installed correctly. The system is broken down into 5 steps.

Step 1. Inspection Before we begin to work on a vehicle that is going to be ceramic-coated, we will need to inspect the paint. We are looking for anything abnormal that may cause an installation issue. This can be rust, deep scratches, overspray, peeling paint, and so on. We may even suggest a level 2 paint correction or wet sanding for deeper scratches. Once we have determined that everything looks good we can move on to step two.

Step 2. Decontamination

No matter how new or old the vehicle is we need to decontaminate the exterior of the vehicle chemically and mechanically. We first wash the vehicle with an iron removal chemical. This will remove contamination that comes from rail or brake dust, large trucks, industrial zones, and the environment. These particles have sharp edges and embed themselves in the softer paint and will oxidize or rust. We then use a clay bar to mechanically remove other contamination on the paint that you may not see but can feel. Once done correctly this will leave the surface smooth and slick ready for the next step.

Step 3. Paint correction

We use a dual-action polisher or rotary and compound to polish the paint. This will remove scratches leaving the paint looking glossy and shiny. This step will also expose a new layer of paint for the ceramic coating to bond to. This process is also necessary for brand-new or older vehicles alike. You will definitely see a difference after the paint is polished.

Step 4. Exterior preparation cleaning

This is the most important step. We use a chemical to clean the soon-to-be coated areas. We use an alcohol-based ready-to-use cleaner for preparing the paint and removing oils, waxes, and polish residues. At this point, the vehicle needs to be as clean as possible. Any contamination will cause the ceramic coating, not to bond, thus causing the coating to fail.

Step 5. Ceramic coating installation

Depending on the temperature and humidity, we will install the ceramic coating and look at the chemical reaction. We always install in a small 2-foot by 2-foot section. We then watch to see how the ceramic coating is reacting to the surface and environment. Based on the behavior of the ceramic coating we know how long to wait before we can level or buff off any high spots. We take our time and always check the surface in the light at different angles.
